Dato’ Indera Ir. Dr. Hj Ahmad Sabirin Arshad, FASc is the Group Managing Director (GMD) of Boustead Holdings Berhad (BHB), having previously served as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO). Prior to this, he served as the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of SIRIM Berhad, Malaysia’s premier industrial research and technology organization. He was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Aerospace Ventures, a subsidiary of UZMA Berhad, and has had a long and distinguished career in aerospace and engineering.
Dato’ Sabirin held various key positions in Astronautic Technology (M) Sdn Bhd (ATSB), an MOF Inc. company, where he last served as Group Managing Director/CEO from 2000 to 2019. He was among the pioneering Malaysian engineers involved in the development of the MEASAT-1 satellite at Hughes Aircraft Company (now Boeing) and played a pivotal role in the creation of Malaysia’s first microsatellite, TiungSAT-1, launched into orbit on 26 September 2000.
He later led the engineering team responsible for the development, launch, and operations of Malaysia’s second satellite, RazakSAT. Dato’ Sabirin was also instrumental in leading the team that provided technical and logistical support for the historic launch of Malaysia’s first Angkasawan to the International Space Station in 2007.
His leadership extends to national-level scientific and safety programmes, including the deployment of the National Tsunami Early Warning System and the Environmental-Friendly Radiation Detector.
He also serves on the boards of Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Berhad and Boustead Properties Berhad.
